This type of sickness is brought on by food and is referred to as food poisoning. While this is a common condition and usually a fairly mild one, food poisoning can, in some cases, lead to serious illness and even death.

Bacterial food poisoning is the commonest, which is caused by the intake of pathogenic bacteria or their formed toxins. Another type called Non-bacterial food poisoning is due to the presence of toxic chemicals like fertilizers, insecticides, heavy metals etc.

General discomfort in the abdominal area is also common. If you experience these food poisoning symptoms you may need to visit a doctor. If the symptoms are extreme it may be necessary to visit a hospital.

One culprit can be raw honey. It is very important infants are never given raw honey as it may have serious side effects. Improperly canned and processed foods are the main cause of food borne botulism.

Most cases arise from a viral infection. Noroviruses, rotaviruses and hepatitis A are all viruses that cause food poisoning in their victims. While they all have similar symptoms, they tend to affect different populations. For example, noroviruses commonly target adults, while rotaviruses infect children and infants more frequently.

A second type of symptoms come from bacteria-related illness, as opposed to viral infections. The most notable of these types of illnesses is a Salmonella infection.

Symptoms of food poisoning are typically nausea and diarrhea, but it can even cause fever, muscle fatigue, and paralysis in the more extreme cases.

You can see and smell food spoilage bacteria. It's the bacteria that causes you to periodically throw away food because it looks and/or smells awful. Food spoilage bacteria generally will not harm you. They are just a warning signal to not eat this food.

It causes server diarrhoea, which can be fatal. Bacterial contamination on the outside of the meat which will be cooked is normally harmless, since the heat will destroy the bacteria.

Salmonella is usually found in meat and poultry, eggs, and unpasteurised milk. It can also be found in untreated water and seafood. Similar to avoiding e-coli poisoning, it is important to heat food thoroughly.

This is quite obvious, but it is alarming how many people assume they have cooked food to the right temperature when it really is not. This is why it is ideal to use a thermometer when cooking, especially when it comes to meat which is very bacteria prone.
